Day 2th. Walachia – traces of the Byzantine splendor | ||

After breakfast, departure for Curtea de Arges, the former capital of Wallachia. Visit the Episcopal Church ,built by Prince Neagoe Basarab (1512-1517), where the Romanian Kings are burried. Drive along the picturesque Olt Valley to Sibiu, one of the oldest cities in Transylvania - formerly Hermannstadt - founded by the Saxon colonists. Guided walking tour of the medieval town (the Main Square, the Evangelical Church, the Liars' Bridge etc.) Lunch (at reservations with Half-Board-Plus). Depart for Sibiel- the village which was awarded the prize "Pomme d'Or by the Press Association FIJET. Visit of the very special Museum of Icons in Sibiel Dinner with traditionals dishes, overnight stay, breakfast at 3* guest house, where you could see for yourself villagers' life , traditions and gastronomic savour. |

Day 3th. Transylvania calls - UNESCO Heritage, medieval treasures | ||

Morning departure to Sighisoara, birthplace of Vlad the Impaler . En route, visit the fortified Church at Biertan. We arrive at Sighisoara and discover the medieval Citadel included in UNESCO World Heritage: the Clock Tower, the Church on the Hill, the roofed stairways etc. Continue to Targu Mures, walking tour through the elegant city centre, well known for its architecture: the Palace of Culture, the Orthodox Churches, the Teleki-Bolyai Library. Drive on to Bistrita and one of the 7 medieval cities in Transylvania; visit the Gothic Cathedral ( XVIth Cent) with its 75m high tower dominating the city and the renowned Gothic style houses called "sugalete". Bistrita is the place where Jonathan Harker, Bram Stoker's hero spent the night before arriving at Dracula Castle. Dinner and overnight stay in 3* centrally located hotel. After dinner: optional night walking tour in the old town on Bistrita. Bed & Breakfast in your nice 3* hotel. |

Day 4th. Good day, sweet Bucovina! | ||

Departure to Bucovina –the "upper land" and of the unique painted monasteries, belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage. Crossing the land of Dracula, wonderfully depicted in Bram Stocker's novel "Dracula", we arrive at Campulung Moldovenesc and visit the Wooden Museum. Lunch in a local restaurant (at reservations with Half-Board-Plus). In the afternoon, visit the Moldovita Monastery – a symphony in purple red, a medieval art treasure. We continue with visit to Lucia Condrea's workshop, the famous creator of painted eggs, as well as the village of Vatra Moldovitei, with its traditional small houses , old steam train and unspoiled nature. Visit to Voronet Monastery, called "the Sistine Chapel of the East" due to the dominant "blue" of its frescoes and the beauty of the paintings, masterpieces of post-Byzantine time, of which the scene of the "Last Judgement" is worldwide known. Dinner with folclore spectacle and overnight at Gura Humorului in nice 4* hotel. |

Day 5th. - Moldavia and its magic | ||

In the morning, we continue driving through the Moldavian villages, with their typical houses. We drive to the monastery Agapia and Varatec, with their unique fortified entrance and classical elements of Moldavian and Wallachian architecture, an example for all Moldavian churches. In the afternoon., drive along the Bicaz Lake and its impressive dam, to admire the scenic view. Cross the fabulous Bicaz Gorges – on foot , if weather is fine-; continue to Lacu Rosu (the Red Lake) resort for visit / photo stop and lunch (at reservations with Half-Board-Plus). Drive to Brasov. Overnight and Breakfast in a good 3* or 4* hotel in Brasov or nearby. |

Day 6th. Brasov/Kronstadt – the saxon gem of Transylvania | ||

After the breakfast, departure in the region Brasov, driving through the Eastern Carpathians. Stop at Prejmer for visit to the fortified church, also included in the UNESCO World Heritage. Drive on to Bran, lunch in a picturesque local restaurant. Visit the famous medieval castle (the "Dracula's" Castle) built as a fortress for the citizens of Brasov in 1377. with view to defence the city. Prince Vlad Tepes/Dracula used the Castle as a general headquarters during his incursions in Transylvania. In 1922, Queen Maria of Romania changed the castle into her Royal residence. The best known castle in Romania for many years, it was an interesting medieval art museum. Lunch and drive back to Brasov. Lunch in a local restaurant (at reservations with Half-Board-Plus). Arrival at Brasov, formerly Kronstadt, founded by the Saxon colonists, as the South gate of Transylvania. Walking tour through the old town centre, including the Black Church, the Council Square, the Hirche House, the baroque style buildings from the Austro-Hungarian times. Day 7th. Follow the royal route! | ||

In the morning, we cross the Carpathians toward Sinaia, one of the most beautiful mountain resorts, also called"the pearl of the Carpathians". Visit to the fabulous Peles Castle, an exquisite piece of architecture and one of the most spectacular castles in Europe. with its arm and armoury collection, unique for its richness and diversity .The Castle served as the Summer residence of the Romanian Royal family. Continue to Bucharest. Lunch in a local restaurant (at reservations with Haf Board-Plus) Panoramic tour of Bucharest, the city of contrasts between old and modernity, with large boulevards and magnificent buildings (the Romanian Athenaeum,the Patriarchal Church aso) Visit the House of Parliament, built 1984 – 1989, the largest building in Europe and the second one in the world, with its unique marble decorations and wooden sculptures made of rare essence, or if this close to public, visit of the former private residence of Ceausescu-Family in Primaverii Bulevard. Day 9th.: Visit the green paradise of Donau Delta! | ||

After the breakfast, trip by boat in the Danube Delta from this typical fisher village, of Crisan trip by boat in Delta. Since 1990, the Delta is on the list of UNESCO's natural heritage. Home to more than 300, some very rare, species of birds and over 160 species of fish. After the breakfast, one day trip to the only town in Delta, the harbour city Sulina. Over nice lakes and canals in Delta you will travel by boat to Sulina. Visit of the small, historical town. Lunch with specific specialty fish delicacies. In the afternoon visit of the sandy coast by Sulina, where you can take a bath in the Black Sea and enjoy a sunny afternoon on the sand.
